The Summer Internship program, was piloted in the Summer of 2010 with 10 college students from underserved communities. We partnered with various companies to secure each student an internship.
We have transformed the Summer Internship program into two parts. One part involves referrals for students interested in specific internships in professions such as medicine, law, public health, dentistry, to name a few. The second part involves our collaboration with the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). We work with over 100 students each summer on our H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths Team, employing the students in a variety of areas such as soup kitchens and pantries, outdoor work, office work and community service.
