Literacy is defined by UNESCO as "the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate, compute and use printed and written materials associated with varying contexts. Literacy involves a continuum of learning to enable an individual to achieve his or her goals, to develop his or her knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in the wider society." To that end, H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths will have a wide array of literacy programs ranging from health literacy to art literacy to mental health literacy, all focused on broadening the horizons of the students served. The organization, with the help of funding, will create a robust, unique library that incorporates artwork, books, film, and other multimedia to fully incorporate the arts, education, film and books into the literacy educational process.
